The Washington Spirit will return to play on Sunday, Oct. 4, traveling to Texas to face the Houston Dash at 7pm ET. The match will be broadcast on NWSL+.

With just four regular-season matches remaining, the Spirit enter Sunday’s matchup sitting in third place in the NWSL standings, behind Gotham and the San Diego Wave. With the table tightly contested on points, every match will be crucial as Washington looks to remain near the top of the standings and secure its position heading into the playoffs.
Sunday’s match will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season. Washington previously hosted Houston on July 3, earning a 2-1 victory at Audi Field. The Spirit will look to build on that result as the teams meet for the final time during the regular season.
Houston enters the matchup sitting in 12th place and will look to continue its recent momentum. The Dash snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Boston Legacy before earning a point in a draw against sixth-place Portland Thorns. The results give Houston an opportunity to continue gaining points in the last few weeks of the NWSL regular season.
In contrast, the Spirit are coming off a last-minute loss to Angel City at home last weekend. Washington’s attack will be led by Trinity Rodman, who currently ranks fifth in the NWSL for goals scored. She also sits fifth in the league in assists and would move into fourth by providing one more.
On the other side, Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell will be a key player to watch for the Dash. Campbell leads the NWSL with 109 saves through 25 matches, providing the Dash with a strong presence between the sticks.
This matchup will also be the Spirit’s final game before the upcoming international break. As part of this international camp, the U.S. Women’s National Team will host Spain at Audi Field, giving fans another opportunity to see soccer be played at the Spirit’s home stadium.
The Spirit and Dash will kick off at 7pm ET on Sunday in Houston. Fans can follow the action live on NWSL+.
