CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2026) — The U.S. Women’s National Team rallied from behind in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw with Spain on Tuesday night in front of 18,648 fans. Spain took an early lead before the United States responded with second-half goals from Ashley Sanchez and Mallory Swanson.
The world’s top-ranked team, Spain, opened the scoring in the 27th minute when two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas found the back of the net. Five minutes later, Salma Paralluelo doubled Spain’s advantage, with Putellas providing the assist.
As the second half got underway, the United States did not take long to respond. In the 49th minute, Ashley Sanchez scored her first international goal since 2022, finishing a chance created by Sophia Wilson to halve the deficit. The goal marked a significant moment for Sanchez, who returned to international play after nearly two years away from the national team.
With the match reaching its final stages, Mallory Swanson netted a full volley equalizer in the 86th minute off an assist by Michelle Cooper. The goal was Swanson’s 39th for the U.S., and made her the 12th mother to score for the team. The closing moments of the match unfolded with Swanson’s goal securing the draw for the United States.

The match also served as international experience for NWSL players Pietra Tordin and Kate Del Fava, both of whom earned their first senior USWNT caps. The United States finished with 15 shots, six on goal, while Spain had 12 shots, five on goal. The result came after the teams previously met on Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C., with Spain earning a 2-0 victory.
